| The project assisted the government’s Department for Industrial Promotion (DIP) to develop and implement policies that promoted trade, investment and other forms of closer integration and networking of EU and Thai companies operating in Southern Thailand. It was a pilot project to test methods that would form a model for encouraging and sustaining businesses and emergent industrial sectors.
The practical initiatives included strengthening business support institutions and relevant parts of the Ministries, an incubator programme for growth oriented SMEs and a revolving loan Fund. The outcome from this active form of policy development was a development model that could be implemented throughout Thailand. The capacity to implement the model was created, as were a variety of workbooks and CD Roms that could be used in policy dissemination.
IMC managed the project on behalf of consortium leader Inypsa, Spain.
