Working closely with the Romanian National Agency for Employment, WYG International led this project to provide pre- and post-redundancy counselling services to employees and enterprises affected by restructuring under the Enterprise Restructuring and Employment Conversion Programme. Over 5,000 workers benefited from the project.
The project began with a thorough analysis of the labour market to ensure that workers received appropriate vocational education and training to maximise their chances of re-employment . Vacancies were carefully assessed and skills developed to match the reality of the current and projected labour market. Techniques previously developed by WYG International for labour market prognosis were tailored to address specific situation in the target regions and this labour market analysis enabled the project to focus advice on vocational education and training.
Over 40 advisors were trained on re-employment services in order to provide a comprehensive service to the redundant workers, with all advisors going through an intensive training programme followed up with regular performance reviews.
Under the project WYG International created five regional centres (in Piatra Neamt, Targoviste, Craiova, Brasov and Galati), each of which was equipped with software allowing on-line tracking of individuals and production of statistical management reports.
