WYG International led a consortium of local training companies in providing one of the largest single outplacement programmes then undertaken in Central and Eastern Europe. Under the programme a network of 35 Social Assistance Centres was established on existing and former mining sites. Each SAC managed a minimum of 1,000 individual clients over the duration of the programme, each receiving one-to-one counselling, a vocational skills assessment and advice on benefits packages. The programme included: the development and maintenance of local labour market information profiles, client databases, a strong promotional campaign involving the printed and broadcast media and the training of Polish staff to manage and administer all elements of the programme.
The project worked closely with the Ministry of Labour and established formal communication links with local and central government on labour issues. The programme was evaluated as so successful that the company was subsequently awarded a second phase, with an increase budget, after competitive tender.
