| The project provided restructuring support and follow-up privatisation advice for 30 municipally owned enterprises in Northern Poland. The enterprises were involved in passenger transport, waste disposal, maintenance facilities and other typical municipal service companies such as district heating plans and distribution centres.
Audits of the 30 enterprises in two regions of Poland included :
- Financial analysis
- Debt resolution
- Marketing assessment
- Legal to assests
- Organisation and management systems
- Human resources
- Technical processes and plant
- Costs
- Environmental impacts
Following the assessments, WYG International worked with each enterprise to develop and then implement its own restructuring plan. The plans were agreed together with representatives of the owner and the enterprise management and involved WYG International providing a range of consultants to support the enterprise management including. Within 12 months, 4 of the 30 enterprises had improved to such an extent that investors were prepared to purchase the company an provide capital for new equipment. The remaining enterprises were restructered over the two years and a further 18 were on a privatisation path by the end of the project.
