WYG International first worked in Romania in 1992 and has had a continuous presence there since 1998. Initial projects focused on restructuring of state-owned enterprises, particularly in the energy sector, though since 1998 a diverse range of work has been undertaken. This has included development of regional development strategies, management of grant schemes, capacity building for the Romanian Social Development Fund, provision of outplacement services and training in rural development issues.
More recently our work in Romania has been focused in the education sector. We have been at the forefront of reforming the education system in order to provide access to education for disadvantaged groups, particularly Roma. We have also implemented projects to improve technical and vocational education and training (TVET).
WYGI Romania, formerly IMC Romania srl, was established in 2002. It employs more than ten full-time Romanian staff from its main office in Bucharest. |
